Jennifer Whalen CNM, ND

Biography

Having grown up all over the country I found my soul settled in the west. I find that too on my journey as a women’s healthcare provider. I also love science. I believe in a collaboration between myself and the client. We each bring unique knowledge and perceptions to a situation. All must be heard and honored. It’s also ok to laugh and be silly about these sometimes uncomfortable topics – they are a part of all of us.

What makes Colorado home to you?

I have lived in Colorado since moving from the east coast in middle school. My mother always said I may have been born in New York but I was born with my Birkenstocks on. Colorado and the west is the home of my soul. My family and I love hiking, camping, skiing, fishing, mountain biking and all things mountain!

What are your passions outside of work?

My husband and I are currently in the middle of a vintage travel trailer rebuild and really enjoying the process. I am an avid reader, cook and gardener. I love yoga, time with friends and family and walks to keep myself grounded.

Why did you become an OB/GYN?

I was called to midwifery after attending the birth of a friend and her baby. She was supported and heard throughout her process and I was done.

What in your career are you most proud?

I love that I have had so many different experiences. Having worked for many years doing both in and out of hospital birth work, teaching at the university level, participating in professional organizations at leadership levels and contributing to the field with educational modules.
