Congratulations, you’re pregnant! Within a short nine months, you’ll start the journey of parenthood. While you’re pregnant, it’s important to be up to date about your baby’s progress and growth.

Midwifery at Rose can help you and your baby stay healthy with prenatal care.

What Is Prenatal Care?

Prenatal care is the health care you get while pregnant, including regular checkups from a doctor, midwife or nurse.

Why Is Prenatal Care Important?

Having prenatal care is essential to ensuring you and your baby stay healthy throughout the pregnancy. It can help prevent complications and inform you about the necessary steps for protecting your infant during pregnancy and after birth.

With prenatal care procedures in place, you can reduce the risk of pregnancy complications and any complications your infant may face while developing.

When Should I Start Prenatal Care Appointments?

As soon as you discover you’re pregnant, it’s best to schedule your first prenatal care appointment. Your provider can assess how far along you are and give you advice so your pregnancy can start with little to no hiccups.

After your first meeting, you’ll have regularly scheduled appointments that are critical to attend. These consultations allow the provider to check on the health of you and your baby and ensure everything is working out properly. Your provider will give you a schedule of the visits you’ll have while pregnant. Often, providers will want you to visit:

  • Once every month for weeks four through 28.
  • Twice a month for weeks 28 through 36.
  • Weekly for week 36 until birth.

If you have other health conditions or are pregnant with multiple babies, your provider will suggest more frequent visits.

Can a Midwife Help With Prenatal Care?

Midwives are great health care professionals who provide services that help you through your pregnancy and post-birth period. Like a doctor, they can give you and your family advice and educational resources to help manage your overall well-being.

Midwives will be with you every step of the way, supporting you throughout your pregnancy journey.
